The holiday season is just around the corner, which means it’s the perfect time to start planning some fun and engaging activities for your clients! Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas provide unique opportunities to connect with your community, boost engagement, and add some extra excitement to your wellness programs.
Whether you’re running an in-person studio or engaging with clients online, I’ve gathered some fun and festive ideas to help you create memorable experiences for your clients this holiday season. These activities are designed to not only add joy to their wellness journey but also keep them engaged and motivated throughout the holidays.
Halloween Fun: Spooky Challenges and Themed Workouts
1. Halloween-Themed Workouts
Bring some spooky energy to your classes by creating Halloween-themed workouts. You can play with the names of exercises (think “Monster Mash Cardio” or “Ghostly HIIT”), use Halloween-themed playlists, or even ask clients to come in costume for a special event! Here are a few ideas:
- Costume Workout Party: Host a class where everyone dresses up, and offer a prize for the best costume. Make it fun and lighthearted, but keep the fitness going!
- Pumpkin Workout: For a fun twist, use small pumpkins as weights in a strength or circuit class. Clients can squat, press, and lunge with their pumpkin—and take it home after the workout.
- Haunted Workout Playlist: Put together a playlist of spooky, energetic songs to add some Halloween flair to your classes.
2. Halloween Social Media Challenge
Create a fun social media challenge where clients can participate from anywhere. For example, a “31 Days of Spooky Fitness” challenge could feature daily exercises or wellness tasks with a Halloween twist. Encourage participants to share their progress by tagging your business and using a specific hashtag (e.g., #SpookyFitChallenge).
You can offer small rewards, like a free session or discounted membership, to keep engagement high and reward participation.
3. Halloween-Themed Trivia or Contest
Online or in person, host a Halloween trivia game that ties into fitness or wellness. You could ask fun questions related to the holiday or health, such as “How many squats does it take to burn off a Halloween candy bar?” Offer prizes for the winners, such as branded swag, a free class, or a special Halloween treat.
Thanksgiving: Wellness Challenges and Giving Back
Turkey Burn Workouts or Recipes
Thanksgiving week is a great time to host a special “Turkey Burn” workouts! These can be high-energy classes designed to help clients feel great before or after their Thanksgiving meals. You can add some fun twists like:
- Pre-Feast Bootcamp: A morning class to energize clients before they indulge in their Thanksgiving feast. I LOVED teaching these in my studios. They would be a “Members Only” class that was a longer, more intense class to give the clients the feeling of accomplishment before they went and indulged for the day.
- Post-Feast Yoga, Stretch or Meditation: For many people, family holidays are VERY stressful. Whether you run a brick and mortar or an online business – consider creating a special relaxing, mindfulness event the day after Thanksgiving to help clients recover and reset.
Healthy Holiday Recipes
The average person eats about 3500 calories on Thanksgiving. That is the equivalent of gaining one pound. Use the time around Thanksgiving and Christmas to provide healthy meal swaps. You can provide full healthy holiday dishes or offer just some healthy ingredient swaps. For example, rather than your clients bringing a charcuterie platter as an appetizer, maybe offering advice on how to bring a fun crudites plate with veggies, olives, and more. Or maybe a fruit platter with a fun yogurt dip. OR you can provide easy swaps such as swapping ½ riced cauliflower for ½ of the potatoes in the mashed potatoes.
Give Back Together
Organize a charity class or event where all proceeds go to a local food bank or charity. Clients will love the chance to give back while staying active. You could also host a food drive in your studio and offer a free or discounted class to anyone who brings in donations.
This not only helps those in need but also strengthens your community and brings clients together for a good cause.
Christmas Cheer: Festive Workouts and Holiday Celebrations
1. 12 Days of Wellness Challenge
Create a “12 Days of Wellness” challenge leading up to Christmas. Each day, challenge clients to complete a specific workout or wellness task. You can offer incentives like a small prize for those who complete all 12 days or a grand prize raffle entry for each day they participate.
Make it fun by incorporating holiday-themed workouts or activities, such as:
- “Reindeer Run” (Cardio) or “Santa’s Strength Circuit”
- Elf Yoga: A fun, light-hearted yoga class where clients practice playful poses to relax during the busy season.
- Snowflake Stretch: A soothing, winter-themed stretch class that promotes relaxation and recovery.
- If you’re running an online business – host online classes or challenges where the clients can participate with you online or post photos of their participation for prizes!
2. Christmas-Themed Classes or Events
Bring the holiday spirit into your classes by organizing Christmas-themed events, such as:
- Ugly Sweater Workout: Have your clients wear their ugliest holiday sweaters for a fun, festive workout. Offer a prize for the most outrageous outfit!
- Christmas Playlist Workouts: Use a holiday-themed playlist full of festive songs to set the mood for your regular classes.
- Holiday Open House or Social Event: Invite clients to a holiday open house at your studio, where they can bring friends and family. Offer refreshments, host mini fitness demos, or hold a wellness Q&A session to build community and celebrate the season.
3. Holiday Giveaways and Contests
December is a great time to run a holiday giveaway. Use social media or in-studio promotions to encourage clients to engage with your brand. For example:
- 12 Days of Giveaways: Each day, give away a small prize to clients who attend classes, share your content, or tag your studio on social media.
- Gift Card Raffles: Encourage clients to bring in friends or post about their workouts to be entered into a raffle for a gift card or free membership.
You could even run a contest where clients post their healthiest holiday meals or share a photo of themselves being active during the holiday season.
